Cold and windy, 31F. Not enough snow for snowshoes, but icy enough in spots that I'm glad of my crampons.

I'd forgotten how much Holly loves the snow, she frolics like a 6 month old puppy :)

Staff shopping day

Back from the mall after our annual staff shopping and lunch trip :)

Cool and damp, 42F. They have finally been up with chainsaws and cleared most of the upper trail (they did the lower trail a couple of weeks ago), and while it makes walking the dog less of an obstacle course it does mean the mountain bikes will soon be back :( Oh well, most of them are OK- and as long as they don't complain about my dog being off-leash I won't complain about them ;)

Friday day off walk :)

Rainy and cool, 38F, but I don't care coz I have the right gear, and Holly doesn't care coz we're in the woods :)

Trying out another pair of earbuds- Yurbuds, designed for runners- and so far they show promise! They have weird rubber things on the ear buds that you sort of screw into your ear, but they stay put and they let in ambient sound so I can hear Holly's collar tags (and the naughty mountain bikes that sneak up behind you on the trail!), and they don't isolate so I don't hear all my bones creaking ;) They sound pretty good too, but all speakers and headphones need a "burn in" period, so I'll report back again in a few weeks- but so far I'm very impressed.

Back after a day off

We didn't get to the woods yesterday as I ran Holly over to the vet as she was very subdued and quiet (not like her at all!) and by the time we'd done that it was time for me to go over to Colin and Christie's to babysit. The vet did the usual blood tests for Lyme etc but so far everything has come back negative (she's supposed to call me today with the final results), but as of this morning Holly seems back to her old self :)

So happy the woods are open again - after 5 days without I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms :)

Lots of people down on the lower trail on this beautiful holiday Thursday (where they have done a nice job cutting sections out of the bigger tree trunks to walk through), but Holly and I decided to do the full monty and walk the full 4+ mile loop, and once we got onto the extra loop (that adds about 1 1/2 miles to our usual walk) we pretty much had the place to ourselves ;)

Yesterday was Veteran's Day so today is the holiday. We all spent the morning at home taking care of lots of little shit- going through Crispy's clothes, trying on shirts and sweats to see what still fits, and then ordering new from Old Navy's online sale (can you believe we've just ordered the boy sweatpants in men's medium tall?); booking appointments at the doctors for all our flu shots; filling out the sports clearance forms for Crisp to do winter track- stuff like that ;)  Then this afternoon we're going to see Skyfall, the new Bond movie, and then head out somewhere fun for dinner :)

Back in the woods thanks to a very nice county cop at the bottom of the hill who was controlling the parking but letting people in to walk (I had to park across the street, but it's no big deal).
