Boxing Day

Cool and a bit windy, 43F.

It's always a bit bittersweet, going away: I know Holly will be fine, and it's only for a week, but I feel so guilty when I drop her off at the kennels.

But right now we're enjoying this lovely day and walking through the woods at a leisurely pace :)  It's very busy here today- I guess lots of people have to walk off what they are yesterday.

Holly and crashed last night in my recliner- I was sleeping off mucho turkey and the effects of working 12 hours straight and then getting 4 hours sleep on Christmas Eve, and Holly was shattered after almost a full day of chasing (or being chased by) Lukob :)

I've come out to walk the dog a little early so I can go back to work to finish setting up the church later once Crisp and his pals are done with school. I feel quite a bit better than I did, but I still had to take it pretty easy going up and down ladders etc this morning.

Relaxed Friday

I like my walk on Fridays especially because I can relax and stroll leisurely through the woods and not have to be home at any particular time. So I can enjoy this lovely, sunny, cool (50F) and breezy day with a clear blue sky with just some wispy clouds around the edges :)

And my mind can wander in all sorts of directions- for example, today I started counting how many times I throw Holly's tennis ball. I keep her ball in a pocket until we get about 2/3 of the way around as she kind of obsesses on it once I start throwing it, but today, as we passed the old wash-house I pulled it out as usual but started counting throws. I'm up to 41 so far, so by the times we get to the car it'll probably be up around 75... if I was a starting pitcher that would be getting up there (and it's quite a few more than AJ managed in most of his starts last year), and they get 3 or 4 days off in between- I do this every day :)

Last night on the way home from Medieval Times the boys were watching The Princess Bride in the van and I mentioned to Jake that I didn't have the soundtrack album.

Today as I walked through the woods I remembered that conversation, so I pulled out my phone, opened the Amazon mp3 app, and 3 minutes and a few bucks later I'm listening to Mark Knopfler's lilting guitar- I love technology!

As an aside, I loved it the van last night when Crispy kept telling his friends, "in the book at this point it's different... " :)
