After wet snow (!) this morning it has turned into a nice afternoon: sunny, breezy and 48F.

Holly still seems to be doing OK, no sign of her limp, she's just waiting for the tennis ball to return ;)

And... we're back!

After 2 weeks off to hopefully let Holly heal whatever was wrong with her back leg we're trying a test day in the woods, no tennis ball for a couple of weeks (she's not pleased), but other than that she seems happy to be back :)

Fingers crossed she shows no ill effects and we can work our way back to full activity...

Were pretty much back to our normal loop, just taking it easy with the tennis ball (though Holly just had a lovely time winning the hearts of the 2 little girls who are just out of shoot in the picture- chasing the ball and bringing it back and dropping it at their feet).

Still on the short loop. It's funny, Holly seems absolutely fine most of the time (especially here in the woods) but every now and then she'll go back to walking on three legs with her back left leg off the ground for a few minutes, then back to normal again. I think she's getting better, but I guess we'll just have to take it easy for a little longer.

Back (let's try this again).

After our last trip to the woods Holly was back to limping with one back leg off the ground. I talked it over with the vet and we decided it is most likely a flare up of the tick-borne blood infection she had before (anaplasmosis), so we've started her on a pretty serious 30 day course of antibiotics. She's now on her second day and the improvement is pretty startling! We've just been doing leash walks around Rye for the last few days but she seems so much better I thought we'd try the short loop (but with no tennis ball).

Sunday, and we're back...

... after a couple of days off to let Holly get back to normal after being a bit lame. We just did longish leash walks around Rye the last couple of days, but she seems pretty much back to normal now :)

A bit colder, 25F, and we had some flurries this morning. We didn't come here  yesterday as on Monday night Holly was holding one back leg off the ground and it seemed Luke she couldn't put any weight on it. Of course yesterday she seemed fine after some of the anti-inflammatory we usually give her (she does this kind of thing quite often), but it was so icy I thought it better to rest her for a day. She seems to absolutely fine now :)

Crazy weather! 50F with bright sunshine, the snow on the trails is the consistency of wet sugar and Holly's stream is in full spate with melting snow. But it's gonna take a long time for all this to melt and we're supposed to get cold again in the next few days.

Back in the woods after missing a day yesterday coz of the snow removal in the church parking lot.

Breaking trail again

What with the foot of snow yesterday we didn't get out for a walk :( Another 3"overnight, which I've just finished shoveling, and the conditions for my big, 36"snowshoes are perfect!

Warm and sunny, 36F, and I'm down to just at T shirt and jeans again. This snow is much harder work for Holly as she sinks in and has to do that hopping, bounding romp to get along- she'll sleep well this afternoon!

Absolutely beautiful in the woods today! It looks like there's only one other set of footprints other than mine from yesterday. Sunny, 27F and gorgeous, I'm snowshoeing around in just a T-shirt :)

After shoveling out the church this morning, all the regular Sunday church stuff, and then dealing with the boiler problems, the reward is that the new snow has just freshened up the trails in the woods enough that I can continue on my snowshoes for another day :)
