Birthday Walk

Holly and I kinda played hooky from work this afternoon so we could go for a walk a little early (as we're going out to Q for dinner this evening).

Absolutely pissing down as it has been all day- but it's given me a nice chance to try out the new raincoat I got at the LL Bean outlet last week (this one in red- I think mine is last years model, but it's essentially the same). It's great as it comes down all the way to my knees- the bottom foot or so of my jeans are soaked, but (apart from a little perspiration as it's still quite warm- 61F) the rest of me is nice and dry :)

Back in the woods with Holly after the Confirmation Retreat. I hiked 3 miles with the kids this morning, so I think I've definitely done my duty today with 3 miles with Holly this evening!

We started off this walk in a thunderstorm, intending to just do the short loop. Then the sun came out briefly so we took the long loop. I say briefly because then the rain started again.

Oh well,  at least it's still warmish, 65F.

... but not nearly as wet as yesterday! It was absolutely lashing down, so I did the shorts and t-shirt and leave the phone in the car thing, so no picture I'm afraid.

Today is similar temperature, 67F, and just light rain. Big tree down on the lower trail (see main blog for pic), I guess the ground is just so saturated the roots just lose their grip.
