Back in the woods after a day off. We went up to Ossining yesterday with Colin to meet and collect his new rescue dog Maggie (the shelter called her Abby, and for a while she was going to be Abbey, bit this morning Christie announced she's going to be Maggie).

A bit late today coz they came to do the start up for the new AC system in the nursery school- a weird day to do it considering it's only 45F and been raining on and off most of the day.

A busy day with much solemnity at church... a moments decompression with the dog in the woods and then back to clean up a bit before the altar guild come in to do their work tomorrow morning.

Everything is ready back at the Church, so we have a moment to to relax before the intense activity of the next 3 1/2 days. I shall cherish the moments I have out here in the woods as little oases of calm ;)

Weird weather... we had below freezing temps overnight and woke to show on the ground. It's warmed up a bit now (43F) and the snow is gone and the sun is out, but it's supposed to get cold again tonight.

Holly is so happy... I've brought out the tennis ball for the first time in a month. So far so good, she seems fine and went for a dip in the steam to cool off, but we'll take it slowly until I'm sure she's fully back to normal.

After enjoying the Veronica Mars book while walking the dog I still had a free credit with Audible, so I'm giving book one of Game of Thrones, read by Roy Dotrice, a try. 35 hours should keep me busy for a while ;)

And... we're back!

After 2 weeks off to hopefully let Holly heal whatever was wrong with her back leg we're trying a test day in the woods, no tennis ball for a couple of weeks (she's not pleased), but other than that she seems happy to be back :)

Fingers crossed she shows no ill effects and we can work our way back to full activity...

Were pretty much back to our normal loop, just taking it easy with the tennis ball (though Holly just had a lovely time winning the hearts of the 2 little girls who are just out of shoot in the picture- chasing the ball and bringing it back and dropping it at their feet).

Still on the short loop. It's funny, Holly seems absolutely fine most of the time (especially here in the woods) but every now and then she'll go back to walking on three legs with her back left leg off the ground for a few minutes, then back to normal again. I think she's getting better, but I guess we'll just have to take it easy for a little longer.

Ash Wednesday

Back (let's try this again).

After our last trip to the woods Holly was back to limping with one back leg off the ground. I talked it over with the vet and we decided it is most likely a flare up of the tick-borne blood infection she had before (anaplasmosis), so we've started her on a pretty serious 30 day course of antibiotics. She's now on her second day and the improvement is pretty startling! We've just been doing leash walks around Rye for the last few days but she seems so much better I thought we'd try the short loop (but with no tennis ball).

Sunday, and we're back...

... after a couple of days off to let Holly get back to normal after being a bit lame. We just did longish leash walks around Rye the last couple of days, but she seems pretty much back to normal now :)
